Occidental Petroleum to move HQ to Houston, spin off California assets

Occidental Petroleum, the longtime Los Angeles-based energy giant, announced Friday that it would move its headquarters to Houston and spin off its California assets into a separate company.

Albert_RoblesThe concern that has caused me to request an item be placed on our agenda for the next City Council meeting next week on March 4th calling for this Oxy project to be shelved and stopped in its tracks is that we have absolutely no idea who we will be dealing with in the operations and management of this Project. The City of Carson is completely clueless and in the dark as to who, what company or what individuals will be managing the operations of this so-called Oxy Project. In fact the only thing we know for sure about who will be managing the operations of the Oxy Project – is that it will not be Oxy.

Please sign petition regulating new drilling to unpopulated areas.

NOT IN OUR BACK YARDS Benzene and methane was detected in the Carousel Tract here in Carson, CA in 2008. This community was built on top of a retired oil tank farm that was improperly cleaned up. And even though Shell was found to be the responsible party, the families residing in this community have not witnessed adequate action taken by Shell to correct this problem.   Continue reading
