After more than 8 months of Robles’ legal maneuvering file an appeal, default, motion to have his appeal reinstated Albert Robles failed to file his opening briefs on January 2, 2019 and on January 29, 2019, the court handed down the final dismissal. On the agenda for this Tuesday’s, August 7, 2018 City Council meeting is whether to put making the City of Carson a charter city on the November 6, 2018 ballot. Albert Robles, Jawane Hilton, and Elito Santarina voted to initiate this action and are expected to be the ones responsible for putting it on our election ballot.
I am sharing this with all of you because it is not just an attack on Carson Connected and me, but because it is Carson Connected today and it could be you and your neighbor tomorrow.
I’ve lived in Carson since 1960, I grew up and went to school in Carson and I love and care about the people and this city. I started Carson Connected to inform Carson residents about issues that affect our lives. But, when our city officials have the arrogancy to attend town hall meetings and hear the over whelming wishes of the residents only to vote against them, to publish an article with a photo that offended a large segment of our residents, to insult people that come up to speak before them. Than to use the city attorney office whose pay comes from our tax dollars to try and intimidate and deprive me of my First Amendment Right the Freedom of Speech and you from the truth is going too far. Much like the way they robbed the City of Carson it’s right to ever place a moratorium on oil drilling, and how they signed a Tesoro/Andeavor tax credit/45 Million Dollar Community Benefits Agreement Carson City Council legalized the recreational marijuana industry here in Carson.
The People’s Climate March was a great day, with Jane Fonda, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., organizations and it is being reported more than 5,000 people came together to stand up for the health and well being of our community. There was no sign of any Carson official at this event (you will find them in some of the photos below take at events on Saturday). Could it be the donations made to them or their pet projects are keeping them from standing with us? Is it their allegiance to the corporations, which kept them from alerting the public about the plans to build the largest refinery in the Western United States here in Carson?
For 49 years, Southern California residents fought against the contamination caused by the oil industry. Are we going to allow this administration to take it away?
